Dunlop asserts that a good designer researches his project, then digs in to understand all elements of the product he's designing for. Once the basics of shape, feel, and color are determined, Dunlop suggests that a designer step back to prevent overworking the final product. By following this process, Dunlop believes that the concepts presented to a client will be intelligent and thoughtful—and on target.
